About Child Abuse
It is any form of abuse of a child, whether emotional, behavioral, verbal, physical, sexual, commercial or any other exploitation of a child and includes any action that results in actual or potential harm to a child, whether done intentionally or unintentionally, in person or through phone or internet-enabled virtual platform.
Types of Child Abuse:
Emotional Abuse:
It is any persistent behavior involving ill-treatment leading to the deterioration of a child’s emotional stability, health, and other development, which may occur independently or coupled with any other manner of verbal, physical, or sexual abuse. Emotional abuse may include: Bullying – It means harassment, embarrassment, and taunting, insulting or threatening behavior.
Stalking – It means repeated and persistent following
Discrimination – on grounds of sex, caste, religion, race, or any other non- apparent
Conveying to the child that she/he is inadequate or worthless or unloved
Physical Abuse:
It is any non-accidental act causing physical injury or impairment, pain, or trauma to the child.
Sexual Abuse:
Shall mean, engaging in sexual activity with a child. Any sexual contact, sexual harassment, or sexual exploitation of a child, whether completed or attempted, whether through direct physical contact or virtual platforms (mobile phone, online or internet-based platform or computers, etc.)
Child to Child Sexual Abuse:
Concerns that may be raised about the abuse of a child by another child shall be responded to with sensitivity, taking into account the vulnerabilities of both children involved.
Online Platform Abuse:
Any act of abuse whether verbal, emotional, or sexual abuse, is done through virtual platforms including but not limited to mobile phones, computers, and tablets be it through platforms conducting online classes, emails, social media, or personal chatting platforms.
Virtual or online abuse may include:
Stalking – When a child is repeatedly and persistently followed and pursued online by e-mail and other electronic communication. Unwanted exposure – When any person sends images, videos, audio clips, cartoons, or animated depicting sexual content by electronic means. Pornography – Any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a child which includes photographs, videos, digital or computer-generated images indistinguishable from an actual child, and images created, adapted, or modified, but appear to depict a child and also includes any visual depiction which is sexual which is shown to a child. Online harassment – It can be a form of verbal, sexual, emotional, or social abuse aimed at a person, a group of people, or even an organization.
Our Policy Statement:
eGrove Systems is an online learning company that enables students to learn LIVE with the teacher. The online learning platforms enable one-to-one interactive learning between a student and teacher.
At eGrove Systems, we need to acknowledge and affirm that children have an absolute right to a safe environment.
The policy should adopt dedicative methods of prevention of any sort of child abuse and we need to further commit to a sensitive and effective redressal mechanism that would address each concern that may be raised, in a stipulated time and effective manner, with no tolerance to any act of child and sexual abuse safety.
Scope:
This policy may apply to all persons and organizations associated with eGrove Systems.
An employee of eGrove Systems, who may be full-time or part-time employees, permanent or temporary employees, and employed on contract.
Volunteers who may work with eGrove Systems, in whichever capacity, even for a limited period.
The students of eGrove Systems and their parents or guardians who are associated with the student in the official record of eGrove Systems.
Our Child Safety Policy:
eGrove Systems Allows (Behavior Expectation)
Listen to the child their views and opinions
Treat every child with respect and empathy regardless of his/her race, caste, sex, religion, language, heritage, social origin, or any point that discriminated against the child.
Use appropriate language and behavior while interacting with the child during online classes.
Create an environment that enables children to share their expressions freely.
Always take permission and written consent from a guardian before taking photos and videos of a child.
The live online classes and content, including but not limited to audiovisual age-appropriate, and culturally appropriate.
eGrove Systems Doesn’t Allow:
Do not develop, induce or support any emotional, online/ offline physical abuse or sexual relationship with children in any way.
Do not use or encourage the use of alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, and other intoxicating substances in any of your interactions with children.
Do not share with or show children online/offline any inappropriate content including pornographic material or material that encourages crime, violence, racism, sexism, suicide, or cruelty.
Preventive Measures:
To prevent the commission of any form of child abuse eGrove Systems has laid down the following preventive measures and expects all its stakeholders to adhere to them.
Create Awareness:
All employees, full-time, part-time, freelancers, volunteers, parents or guardians, all vendors, and stakeholders of eGrove Systems who have contractual obligations with eGrove Systems shall sign the child safety policy of eGrove Systems.
Data collection privacy:
Data collected from children will not be shared and will be kept safe and secure, shared only with individuals who are authorized.
Reporting and Redressal Mechanism:
eGrove Systems should be the responsible and accessible designated person (Child Safety Officer) and teams of redressal of any concern or complaint that may be raised by anyone about child safety.
